SharePoint 2010 Content

Enterprise Content Management in SharePoint 2007 is now called Content in SharePoint 2010. The following are the new features added to Content in SharePoint 2010

Description
Document Sets
Allows storing related documents as a single entity, versioning can be applied at a stretch to all the documents in the Document set.
Eg: Store all contract related documents in a Document Set (.doc, .xls, .pdf..)
Hierarchical structures 
Record management can be organized in a Hierarchical structure, specific to business needs.
Flexible Retention rule 
Retention rules can be applied to individual files, Lists, Document Libraries or a Content Type.
Multi stage Retention rules
Allows retention rules to be applied in multiple stages.
For example
After I Year : Send for Review
After 2 Years : Move to Archive
After 3 Years : Purge
In-Place Records Management
Allows documents in a Document Library to be declared as Records, without having to move them to a Records Center.
Support additional Content Types
Supports additional content types like audio, video, images etc
Document IDs and the Document ID service
Adds a unique identifier (ID) to all documents in the site collection. Enables easy retrieval of documents by document ID.
